Tired of your libraries to assemble in kit, without originality? U.S. too !
In this tutorial, we show you how to make a unique and 100% DIY storage cabinet! Under its extravagant airs, this DIY is unparalleled speed and ease of realization (we promise!)
So, to your hammers!
Equipment
For this DIY creation, you will need:
- Wooden crates (ours are from Simply A Box)
- 15 mm wood screws *
- A drill
- Nails & his hammer
- RIPATON feet. As our piece of furniture is asymmetrical, we have priced two different feet of different sizes (namely the Courageous and the original)
*Please note: the screws supplied with your RIPATON steel feet are 25 mm screws. If you use these, they may protrude!
Before assembly
It all starts with the choice of your boxes. So, yes, it seems obvious said like that. But the number of boxes and their shapes will determine the final appearance of your furniture! When you have your wooden crates, think about how you want to arrange them, in order to have a harmonious rendering, but above all, stable! It would be a shame to have a wobbly creation, or worse, which would not stand on its feet!
Be careful not to make your wooden boxes exceed the width that will constitute the base of your furniture, in order to balance and properly distribute the weight of your creation.
So do not hesitate to make a diagram of your future creation on paper, and to arrange the crates as you wish in order to preview the final rendering : this will also allow you to know which size of foot will be adapted to your creation!
Measure and mark marks on each crate: number your wooden crates to know the order in which you will arrange them, and not to mix up the brushes when you fix them!
On your marks… Nail!
Is everything in place? For the rest, it's very simple! You just need to nail the wooden crates together to fix them!
It is therefore necessary to drive the nails into the width of the body and the cleats already present, and not in the length (otherwise the nails will protrude!).
Once your boxes are all fixed together, all you have to do is fix your steel feet!
As we took two different pairs of Ripaton feet, the mounting plates are not the same! We therefore let you appreciate the technique of arrangement of these on our creation. ?
Here ! You have finished ! Set up your furniture, decorate it to your liking and admire the result! Anyway, are we a big fan?
